Along Main Street in Downtown Sarasota there are many shops and restaurants. At the Pineapple Square complex there is a Brooks Brothers store. The shops on Main Street stay open late for the First Friday Walk every month. A block away on Palm Avenue are several art galleries, which are also open during First Friday Walk.

Fruitville Road runs from the Downtown Main Street shops in Sarasota to US highway 41 and interstate highway I-75. Many shops are situated around the roundabout at Main Street and Pineapple Avenue. A few blocks west of the Main Street roundabout are the waterfront boat docks.
