Since it was founded in 1989, Caragiulos Italian-American Restaurant has been one of the most popular restaurants in Sarasota, Florida. The Caragiulos family came from Brooklyn where our father Tony Caragiulos had a bakery. The family with its five sons picked up and left Brooklyn and the bakery to come to Florida and find a good location to open up a simple Italian family restaurant. We had an exhausting two week car trip all over Florida looking for the best place to open our new restaurant and tempers were flaring, until Tony saw a vacant stucco building and yelled for the car to stop. “This is it,” he declared and our restaurant had been in this cozy location ever since. Our goal from the beginning of the restaurant has been to serve easy going and inventive Italian-American comfort food made with the finest ingredients. We bake our bread fresh in the restaurant every morning and use fresh made mozzarella. The Caragiulos restaurant is still run by the five Caragiulos brothers today and Mrs. Caragiulos still bakes the delicious biscotti herself. Caragiulos continues to be one of Sarasota’s favorite restaurants by making its guests feel like part of the family.
